Taipei, October 12, 2026             The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra presents “Jerry Hou & ESO” on December 18 at Miaobei Art Center. Led by ESO Associate Conductor Jerry Hou, the program brings together music by Leonard Bernstein, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and John Williams, spanning Broadway, theater, and some of the most recognizable music written for the screen.

The concert opens with Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the Broadway classic relocates the tragedy to modern-day New York, while Bernstein’s score draws on jazz, Latin dance rhythms, and the symphonic tradition. The program then turns to Korngold’s Much Ado About Nothing Suite, adapted from his incidental music for Shakespeare’s comedy and filled with the composer’s vivid theatrical writing.

Shakespeare remains a thread into the second half with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, marked by its lyrical love theme and dramatic tension. The program then moves from stage to screen with John Williams’s Star Wars Suite, closing the concert with the sweeping orchestral sound that has become inseparable from the Star Wars universe.

The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra will perform with Jerry Hou on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Miaobei Art Center. The concert is exclusively sponsored by Central Reinsurance Corporation. For ticket information, please visit the official Evergreen Symphony Orchestra website or OPENTIX.
