Taipei, March 25, 2026.          Building on the enthusiastic reception of its 2025 Malaysia tour, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is expanding its international presence this year with a grand tour to Singapore and Japan. The 2026 overseas journey officially commences on June 28 at Singapore’s Esplanade. Marking the orchestra’s third visit to the Lion City, this engagement features a showcase of two concerts in a single day, designed to display the ESO’s profound artistic depth.

The afternoon matinee, 'Timeless Resonance: Jaap van Zweden & HIMARI' features the internationally acclaimed Japanese violin prodigy HIMARI as soloist. The program opens with Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, a work celebrated for its 'symphonic' depth and noted for evoking the icy temperament of the Scandinavian peninsula. As HIMARI navigates the concerto’s unconventional architecture, including a demanding cadenza within the heart of the first movement, the concerto concludes in a flurry of rustic, rhythmic brilliance.

The concert continues with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 in D minor. Echoing the spirit of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, the work translates the struggle of the human spirit into a triumphant journey. Under the precise and rigorous baton of Maestro Jaap van Zweden, the music evolves from piercing dramatic tension to an intimate, chamber-like delicacy, ultimately culminating in a grand, heroic finale.

The evening event is a private invite-only event for guests of EVERGREEN LINE and EVA Air, featuring a special collaboration with the Taiwanese Golden Melody Award-winning indigenous singer Usay Kawlu, designed to foster multicultural exchange. Conducted by Maestro van Zweden, the orchestra will weave symphonic arrangements with Kawlu’s evocative vocals to present a selection of 'Taiwanese Folk Songs' filled with sentimental heritage. Kawlu’s unique indigenous voice will also reinterpret Mandopop and Hokkien classics, conveying a powerful message of cross-border cultural inclusivity, bringing this event to a moving conclusion.

The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra remains committed to sharing the excellence of Taiwan’s artistic spirit under the leadership of Maestro Jaap van Zweden. Following the Singapore residency, the orchestra will proceed to Japan for two performances this July.
