Evergreen Symphony Orchestra and Jaap van Zweden Present 2025 Season Finale on January 16, 2026
- 2025-10-15

The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra and renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden are set to conclude their 2025 season with a spectacular finale: 'Jaap van Zweden & ESO' on January 16, 2026, at the National Concert Hall. After a year of artistic collaboration, the musical synergy between the maestro and orchestra has reached new heights. This performance will showcase masterpieces spanning the Classical and Romantic eras, building anticipation for the orchestra’s upcoming 2026 season.

The concert opens with Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K.550, one of the final three symphonies composed by the Austrian genius in 1788 during the final years of his life. This work stands apart with its use of the melancholic G minor key and its plaintive opening motif in the violins, revealing a poignant emotional depth. Maestro Jaap van Zweden's precise interpretation will allow audiences to experience the perfect balance between intellect and emotion in Mozart's music.
The second half invites listeners on an epic musical journey, following Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D major, 'Titan.' Premiered by Mahler himself in Budapest in 1889, this symphonic debut portrays a journey of life itself, evolving from youthful passion through turmoil to a mature and radiant conclusion. Mahler’s orchestration creates a richly colored, emotionally charged sonic universe.

This concert bridges two great musical worlds---Mozart's Classical refinement and Mahler's Romantic grandeur, while highlighting Jaap van Zweden’s role as Artist-in-Residence since 2025, leading the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra into a new season of artistic growth.
The Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, led by Jaap van Zweden, will present this momentous performance on Friday evening, January 16, 2026, at 7:30 PM at the National Concert Hall. We warmly invite all classical music lovers and newcomers to join us for this musical celebration.
Tickets are available through the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra's official website or the OPENTIX ticketing system.
